‘TITANIC IN PHOTOGRAPHS’ SAILS TO SUCCESS AT PURPLE APPLE AWARDS
Royal Victoria Place in Tunbridge Wells has been successful in winning an award at this year’s Revo Purple Apple Marketing Awards. The gathering of the leading shopping centre marketeers from all across the UK took place on Thursday 4th May in London with the glitzy ceremony hosted by TV and BBC Radio 1 presenter Gemma Cairney.
West Kent’s largest shopping centre, was awarded a Merit Winner in the ‘Events’ category for its ‘Titanic In Photographs’ Exhibition which took place last summer at Royal Victoria Place. This was a fiercely contested category with nearly 34 shortlisted shopping centres vying to be crowned the winner. This award aims to reward the best of the best in the events arena; events which break the mould and produce significant results with maximum impact at the same time as delivering return on investment.
The Revo Purple Apple Awards is the only annual awards programme which recognises and rewards effective shopping and town centre marketing within the UK retail sector. This year more than 140 entries were submitted across 5 categories.
In summer 2016, Royal Victoria Place put on a unique exhibition of 100 large-scale photographs of the world’s most famous ship brought to life with a world class display of 130 original artefacts. ‘Titanic in Photographs’ told the captivating story of Titanic; from conception to her tragic demise. This was only its second opening in the UK and a first for Kent and Sussex, before it set sail to tour South America and the US. During the four week event it attracted more than 148,000 visitors and achieved over £182,000 worth of PR.
A member of the Purple Apple Awards Judging Committee, commented, “Royal Victoria Place provided great background to this event and a strategy with clear objectives that were planned and implemented meticulously. They delivered great results achieved vs investment made, clearly defined against the objectives.”
Marc Burchett, Marketing Manager of Royal Victoria Place and organiser of the exhibition commented, “We are delighted and extremely proud to have once again been awarded a prestigious Purple Apple Award as this builds upon the success of our previous win in 2016 for our community art project ‘Victoria At 21’. The ‘Titanic In Photographs’ Exhibition enabled us to create a unique and engaging event which spanned the generations at the same time as providing an educational event for children during the school holidays.”
