My World Has Exploded A Little Bit - Image 01

‘It’s funny, it’s charming, it’s absurd, and it’s very poignant. Highly recommended.’ ★★★★ BroadwayBaby

Bella Heesom’s charming writing debut is a darkly comic personal story of love and loss, telling an uplifting story of her personal journey through grief following the loss of her parents. Following critical and audience acclaim at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and a transfer to London’s Vault Festival that was Highly Commended by the Awards Committee, My World Has Exploded A Little Bit will be at the EM Forster Theatre at Tonbridge School for two nights on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd June.

This bittersweet show tells a true story with a refreshing mix of frank honesty, live music, philosophy and clownish silliness. Writer and performer Bella Heesom bravely lays herself bare while encouraging the audience to laugh in the face of adversity, as she presents an increasingly absurd 17-step ‘Logical, Philosophical Guide to Managing Mortality’. Joining her onstage is actress and musician Eva Alexander (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), who plays her hapless assistant; a mischievous, clown-like character who ineptly demonstrates the awkward, sometimes comical realities of patient care. The show has a beautiful multimedia design by Elizabeth Harper, featuring projections of dreamlike animated sketches, and is supported by an enchanting live piano score composed by Anna O’Grady.

‘A truly inspirational and breathtakingly beautiful piece of theatre – a must-see.’ ★★★★★ Views From TheGods

Beneath the jet black comedy, is a heartfelt and heartbreaking story, which takes the audience on a powerful emotional journey. ‘I’ve been blown away by the response,’ says Heesom. ‘People laugh and cry in equal measure, and often do both at the same time!’

Beautiful, funny, heartfelt, profound and moving My World Has Exploded A Little Bit is an unmissable show and perfectly suited to the intimate surrounds of the EM Forster Studio space.

My World Has Exploded A Little Bit, written by Bella Heesom and directed by Donnacadh O’Briain, is touring the UK with support from Arts Council England.
