Everything You Need to Know About Your Weekend Away in London

London is world-renowned for a reason. Not only does it have history, grandeur, and stunning architecture, it also has some incredible shopping opportunities, art exhibitions, and, of course, promises for a wild night out. When you want to celebrate something big, there is no better place to go. Whether you’re celebrating your birthday, an engagement, or a big success like a graduation, make London your weekend getaway. There are a few things that you need to know, however, in order to save you the most money, and to make your journey easier:

  1. Get an Oyster

When it comes to travelling around London, you can either spend a lot, or you can spend a little. The best way to go is not with a day travel card, as you might think, it’s the Oyster card (since you aren’t a Londoner). Yes, it does cost £5 to get one before you can top up, but you can trade that card back in for a refund. While you have it, you can enjoy capped fares, meaning you won’t overspend when you’re exploring the city.

  1. London Buses are London Tours

Another way you can save money seeing London is to take its city buses. These cost £1.50 and allow you to change once within a certain time frame for free, and give you a great tour around the city. Saving on travel and touring this way will leave your weekend budget for better things, like food, shopping, and partying!

  1. There are Food Deals Everywhere

There are half-off, special days, there are soft-launch openings, and there are popups on top of delicious and affordable market food. You don’t need to spend a lot to eat well in London, and if you look for these places ahead of time, you’ll eat the best foods, and still have plenty left over in your budget.

  1. Shopping

It might be tempting to shop at Oxford Street, but try to refrain. The stores on this strip, while enticing, can be found anywhere in the UK. Instead, shop London’s local boutiques. If you want to go on a massive shopping spree, but don’t want to spend a lot, peruse around its charity shops. If you’re lucky, there might be a kilo sale on somewhere! Markets like Brick Lane and Portobello road also have a lot of goodies for cheap.

  1. Partying Tips

There are a lot of venues in London, but that doesn’t mean that they’re all good. Further, when you’re in the city to celebrate, you need to go big. That’s why you need VIP club table bookings. There’s no better way to party with your friends!

London is the perfect destination because it has it all, no matter your budget. If you don’t want to spend a lot, there are so many free things to do in the city! If you do have a budget, then you have many more options regarding what to do, eat, and even see. Plan ahead and have your itinerary, and you’ll have a wonderful time!
