5 Ideas for a Fun Weeknight Out in Medway

We’re all familiar with the phrase ‘living for the weekend’ and sometimes modern life can feel just like that. The daily grind of work often means that the one thing we think about at the end of another day is simply collapsing on the sofa in front of Netflix.

However, while we love a new episode of The Good Place as much as anyone, isn’t it maybe time to break that old routine? There are a lot more activities available on weeknights in our region than you may have realised and here we are going to take a look at five of our favourites.

Yoga

After a draining day in the office, the opportunity to unwind and boost your physical and mental health can be just what the doctor ordered. Yoga is thought to have originated around 5,000 years ago yet it is still going strong today.

Organisations like Medway Yoga offer evening classes during the week, so why not head along to see how the practice could boost your strength, flexibility and help you bring a bit of calm to your life after a hard day of work?

Bingo

Now for something completely different. Once seen as a pastime for older generations, bingo has been transformed in recent times with a growing number of younger people playing the game. Incredibly, figures suggest £30 million a year will be spent on bingo by 2019.

Buzz Bingo even has a Medway site for friends to discover what all of the fuss is about, with evening sessions of the famous game running throughout the week.

Cinema

If you love settling down in front of the TV on a weeknight, why not swap the small screen for a much bigger one? Whatever mood you’re in following a day at work, we’re sure that the region’s cinemas will have you covered.

Check out listings for cinemas such as the Odeon in Chatham or the Cineworld in Rochester and immerse yourselves in the latest top films.

Ice skating

Another option for those seeking a more active experience, why not strap on some skates and spend a couple of hours gliding on the ice?

Planet Ice in Gillingham is undoubtedly a great option for this, with a range of different skating sessions being held throughout the week. The site also hosts a number of events, so check out the website to see what is on.

Shopping

A bit of retail therapy can often go a long way. Whether you’re preparing for Christmas, seeking the perfect birthday gift or simply wanting to browse in a few shops, Medway has you covered for a spot of after-work shopping.

The Dockside Shopping Outlet and the Pentagon Shopping Centre in Chatham are open until 7pm on Thursdays and Fridays, with both sites boasting a range of top brands.

Plenty to see and do

It can sometimes be hard to find the energy and inspiration to do something on a weeknight, but we hope these ideas have at least provided some food for thought. There is so much to see and do, so why not make plans with friends and family today?
